Exploration in Antarctica
Many researchers and scientists go on expeditions to Antarctica to do research on its biodiversity of this continent as well as the ice. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research goes there along with many other research committees. Many famous explorers such as Shackleton went and discovered Antarctica back in the 1915. All the research which is being done, is helping raise awareness that the neighbouring countries to Antarctica are in great danger as the ice in Antarctica melts. If it does then countries such as Australia and New Zealand are in extreme danger because the sea levels will rise and these countries are at a huge risk of drowning.
This research also provides evidence that climate change or global warming has become a major problem. During summer about 3,700 scientists work in Antarctica, working for over 46 research stations that are scattered all over the icy, cold continent. Despite the freezing cold weather of Antarctica's winter, about 1,200 scientists stay back and continue doing research during winter. IMAGINE THAT! Since some research stations are not permanent(the ones that stay in winter) some of the scientists and researchers go back. Many countries own research stations that go to Antarctica each year to do research. These are not all of the countries, there are many more. Here is a short list below:
Countries that contribute
Australia
India
China
Russia
Italy
Germany
Argentina
Finland
Chile
Brazil
France
Japan
Spain Life is hard in Antarctica
Pakistan
Korea
Norway
Sweden
New Zealand
United Kingdom
United States of America
